Our focus this week is the value of persistence. Most of us have memories that aren’t so pleasant from times we have had to practice persistence. It is something not usually found when the road is clear and everything is fine. That’s probably why it’s not a finely tuned muscle for many of us. We need it at work, in the family, with our kids. Students need it during tests, sports and in Maths Mastery. We need to tap into it almost every day. So how can we become better at it?
Well on Tuesday afternoon, the boys from the senior class were accompanied by myself and Mrs Jenkins father-in-law, Tim on a hike up to the Rock of Knowledge. The boys arrived at school with their creatively crafted walking sticks (Check out Angus’s walking stick at the next Markets, I’m sure he’ll have a stall!) Jack and Arthur also had intuitive designs! The boys made it to the top for a quick break and all the way back to school just in time to catch the bus within two and a half hours.  Despite rashes, stitches, scratches and stacks, they never moaned or groaned. Don’t get me wrong, there were plenty of scrunched up faces and slumped shoulders, but no one gave up. You could almost see their ability to persist growing by the minute – especially when we had to jog along all the flat sections on the way back to catch the bus!  Chappy
